AND ON THE EIGHTH DAY, HE RESTED (AND THE NINTH)

TD played seven rounds in seven days to complete a whirlwind of links golf in Ayrshire.  All this was arranged by Callum of LomondGolfTours.com. This was truly a great experience and, should you decide to take a trip to Scotland or Ireland, TD can now fully recommend Callum, and his partner Iain, to assist you for that purpose.  The true Scottish links rounds i.e., West Kilbride (Old Tom), Glasgow Gailes Course (Willie Fernie and Willie Park, Jr.) and Kilmarnock Barrasie Course (Theodore Moon) were his “faves” for golfing.  For “lore”, Prestwick (Old Tom for the original 12 holes) took the prize; for visual effect, no doubt Shiskine (again, Willie Fernie) gets the crown.  All these were lain by Victorian Era Scottish masters and TD’s entourage will find more of Old Tom, James Braid and Donald Ross’s work (week three) in the Highlands. But next on the agenda, the group assembles at Liverpool toward The Open at Birkdale, with rounds at St. Annes Old, Blackpool and Royal St. David’s, in Wales. You are welcome to stay tuned as TD will be reporting from there. 

 AND FINALLY – AYRSHIRE GOLF’S FIRST FAMILY

TD gave witness to a heartwarming site on Sunday at Kilmarnock where Callum (of Lomond Golf Tours), Evan and Lucas – Sons of Callum (TD shall, going forward, call these boys the SOCs), and wife, Claire-Marie, were all playing a practice round at Kilmarnock in light of the SOCs participation in competition on Monday.  Callum, who played on the Scottish Tour and played his college golf at Ole Miss in the states, has managed to focus his family on their true heritage, with pride.  They are truly a special group, and TD is better for knowing and meeting them all. And, to end this week number one, TD must say, “Later Taters!”
