CAN YOU SPOT THE DUFFER IN THIS PICTURE?

TD had a great (well a fun) day at Belleisle on Wednesday seeing buddy Andy, whom he had met at Crail a couple of years ago and meeting (an unsuspecting) Andrew, who had never experienced a round with the old TD. No doubt he was duly impressed.

Belleisle, and it’s “little sister” course, Seafield reside within the larger Belleisle Park on the south side of Ayr town and, according to friend Andy, Belleisle is the flagship muny of the Ayrshire Council. Both courses are James Braid layouts dating back to 1927. It was a long course for TD with several 400+ yard par fours which caused him to “come out (over) swinging”, whilst Andy (a real player) played his round in three over. TD’s not sure why these guys are willing to “go a round” with him. It must be his magnetic personality; or maybe the fact that he’s so good at making other golfers look good. TD’s score card was dubious and he wasn’t sure he finished in double digits. Bummer. But the order of the day was to visit a bit with Andy, and, to that extent, the mission was accomplished.

The old manor home which once served as the clubhouse for Belleisle was sold to a couple of different third parties with the intention of making this a destination (even though it’s a muny – so not sure how that would work) but, somehow, after several years and lots of pounds (sterling) invested, somehow it seems that it “went alight.”
