GOLFING THE NINE-HOLER AT MASHAM
Share

TD made his annual pilgrimage over to York recently to the Hill Estate in York to discuss environmental issues with the UK’s most ardent defender thereof, Dr. David Hill. As the US works ever so diligently to destroy its environmental future in the name of coal and oil, the UK puts teeth into their’s and Dr. Hill is one of those at the helm. David, a foremost member of the Woodland Trust in the UK, explained that the Trust had recently purchased a large preservation tract in Wales from a family who had owned the land for over 900 years. Wow, that’s older than the TD.?. The Hills are always so welcoming to their home which the TD now refers to as the Yorkshire Hill-ton.
AND OF COURSE THERE WAS GOLF

Hill son-in-law Billy invites TD to the Masham (Mass-ham) nine-hole club just up the road for a Sunday morning round. Billy had just become a member and took the risk of bringing TD as one of his first guests.
WHERE THEY WERE MET BY…

…head golf professional Andy (the dandy). Andy was a hoot and you knew it was going to be a good day just for having made his acquaintance. Later in the round, TD and Billie met up with Andy on the course and he asked “How many balls did you lose?”. TD had to think about it and then had to answer “none”, to which Andy responded, “How do you expect a golf pro in this remote part of England to make a living if you’re not going to leave any balls behind.” Andy added his signature to the Columbia Golf League traveling hat which TD is circulating throughout the UK (below).
