HERE WE GO AGAIN!

It’s summertime and time to head for “cooler pastures” or golf courses, as the case may be. TD and buddy Timmy are heading back across the pond to be joined by two more participants, making this a “dream foursome”….in someone’s eyes. Not sure who that is yet.
Week 1: TD will play out west (Ayrshire). Courses are Kilbride, Gailes, Prestwick, Shiskine (12 holer) and Brodick on the Isle of Arran, then back to Dundonald Links, capping this segment with a round at the famed Kilmarnock. And that’s just the first week. This excursion was assembled by those golf trip masters (Callum & Iain) at LomondGolfTours.com
Week 2: Next TD hangs around Ayr for another week to try to recover from the week before. Then on down to the Yorkshire Dales to see his fellow communicants in the environmental sphere, Dr. David & Katherine Hill (environmentbank.com). With the world on fire, Dr. Hill and TD spend 2-3 days together every year to discuss “extinguishing tactics.”

Week 3: It’s over to Liverpool (actually Chester) and meet up with friend Steve to attend The Open at Royal Birkdale, also playing Blackpool, the historically significant St. Anne’s Old, side trip to Wrexham, down to Royal St. David’s in Wales. And, no Liverpudlian trip would be complete without a Beatles Tour.

Week 4: Then the drive (about 8 hours total) from Southwest England up to the Scottish Highlands, with a round at Pitlochry on the way. Pitlochry is home to the world’s best scones (you have to think of other things besides golf once in a while) and TD hopes to have a dozen or so waiting for his group there. Then up to the Highlands town of Tain where our Tain memberships will be utilized to gain access to Royal Dornoch where the group will see the new 15 million pound ($20M) clubhouse, on to Fortrose & Rosemarkie, golf in Tain, Golspie, Brora (where the sheep are suing the golf course) and way up to Wick at the very northern part of the Scottish mainland. All these are great seaside courses. Then, on Sunday, the group takes the drive back down to EDI with stops at a distillery, the obligatory run by St. Andrews to buy trinkets and then it’s to “De Plane, De Plane”. Follow along, there should be some great sites and times to share.

Godspeed and thank you for coming along! Also, for updates with moving parts and sound, TD is posting some new videos on YouTube. Just search for Traveling Duffer.
