If you've never had a shrimp cocktail at a Mexican restaurant...

...do it now, before it's too late. * If you're a big fan of crustaceans like the old TD, you likely dream of all you can eat muchos Caridea and Dendrobranchiata (look it up) of nearly any shape. ** Keeping with his normal practice of consuming a portion of his meal before photographing the same (he always forgets this step), this is somewhat of a public service announcement as TD wishes you enlighten his readership here. *** TD had his first "Mexican shrimp cocktail" (on the menu as 'Cocktail de Camerones"), at Jalisco (restaurant) in Jefferson City in 2016 and has been counting the shrimp ever since. This "cold shrimp soup" (recipe - prawns in a tangy, pink Marie Rose sauce), was hiding in plain sight on the menu (under "Aperitivos") at nearly every Mexican restaurant for all of TD's life. AND, the most exciting thing about his inaugural "camerones" experience was that it included 21 of these half-moon delectables. Today's dish (pictured above), is brought to you by Delia's at Stadium and South Highway 63, where the shrimp were fewer in number (he counted 12) but redeemed themselves by being substantially large in scale. **** In closing, TD's "go to menu item" when dining at ALL Mexican restaurants (absolutely a true statement) is now Cocktail de Camerones (which typically comes with all the saltine crackers one needs to chase these shrimp), plus one or two sizable margaritas (depending on the hour and who's driving), which TD has deemed necessary to round out the meal. WARNING: This dish is typically served as an appetizer, and likely meant to be shared. However, whilst he has considered this approach to "disappearing" his camerones, somehow that idea seems to run afoul of TD's nature.
