PITLOCHRY, AGAIN, AGAIN & AGAIN
Share

On TD’s annual pilgrimage from EDI toward the Scottish Highlands , once again, again, again, he stopped off at Pitlochry; somewhat arguably for the golf, but also for the scones. The “Scones of Pitlochry” are, in his view, the closest to heaven that he has encountered in his long, scone consuming career. Whilst in this place of golfing import (it nicely breaks up the four hour drive), and on the putting green prior to his round, TD witnessed a young “super-putter” sinking a 40 footer to which the youngsters da utters, “Scottie Scheffler would have liked to have had that putt last week at The Open”. TD overheard, agreed and then presented this youngster (AB) with the coveted TD poker chip/marker. He was also able to gain his signature on the “traveling hat”. But the day’s giving was not yet complete. As TD approached the first tee, which resides very near the putting green, AB approached and presented him with a Pitlochry Golf Club member’s bag tag (whoa!). There was no doubt in his mind that, not only did this come from the hearts of AB and his da, but also that TD had gotten the very best of the deal. As the two parted, shaking hands, TD espoused that he would be seeing AB on the professional circuit in the future.

Proof of TD’s Pilochry-ing, for the third (maybe fourth) year. A memory ages.

At the end of the Pitlochry “hike”, one of TD’s favorite views is focused here; the red roofed clubhouse beside the 18th green which indicates that, once again, you have lived to “Pitlochry” another day. The 18th is one of the easiest holes and TD seems to always make the green in two…but then fails to sink his birdie putt. Oh well, TD feels that there is one more Pitlochry escapade left in him for 2027. He hopes that AB and his da are present so he can have a scone with the paid. Yet today, TD continues to consider producing a photo calendar entitled “The Scones of Pitlochry”.
