RICH & GALON CARRY THE (WEDNES)DAY -21 May 2026

One of the great things about being a (traveling) duffer is the extreme likelihood that you’ll be paired with folks whose talents far exceed those of your own; at TD’s stage, it’s almost a given. TD has grown to accept this phenomenon as “just a part of his (golfing) life”. The real challenge for the TD though is to try to keep swinging your own swing, resisting the temptation of trying to emulate those of your (far superior) teammates or fellow competitors. At his age, the TD has finally conceded to his swing (the latest which is product of a recent rotator cuff surgery). Both Rich (of Columbus) and Galon (of Toronto), were TD’s single handicapper partners in Wednesdays’s competition and each was capable to carry the weight of the old TD without too much difficulty (or even remorse); although TD did contribute from time to time due to his stratospheric handicap. Great round guys and thanks for letting the TD tag along. Additionally, the other relieving manifestation of golfing at TD’s level is that, due to his golfing “deficiencies, he’s never entrusted with the score card. That way, he can enjoy the walk knowing that he’s going to remember the contributions of the other players while maintaining high confidence that they’ll likely forget his. It’s called “embracing mediocrity”.
