TD WEARS OUT HIS SRIXON THEN ENJOYS VICTORY DINNER

Paired with locals Edmund, Kevin and Peadar today on the Hackett Course at Carne (this picture is not them but, from a distance, they would be similar, but then again unequaled, as few pictures were taken on this rainy day).  The three unsuspecting lads were thrust into the world of The Traveling Duffer by no choice of their own.  The foursome experienced a bit of a lashing rain, with some dry times peppered amidst.  TD had a phenomenal round whereby he was able to shoot 108, all strokes addressing the same Srixon.  He suspects the ball was “willed” to him by Shane Lowery or some other Srixon playing professional and it was later retired and will be donated to the Srixon Ball-Hall (of Fame?).

TD knew his day could only get better when he received an invitation to dine with buddy Bill Gallagher, his wife Liz, sister Linda and  Kyle and Nick, two Carolinians whom Bill had met just this day on the golf course.  TD was excited, as well, to be able to break bread in the presence of Bill’s famous “Have a Great Day!” sign which, said sign, is known to have traveled to all seven continents and was recently on the space craft that went to see Pink Floyd on the Dark Side of the Moon.  The cuisine was “Irish” in nature, i.e., delicious and delivered with a good amount of “failte”.  Knowing that he was going to be in attendance, TD baked a cake, but placed it in a “store bought” container so as not to make Bill, family and guests feel that TD had not gone to too much trouble.  The evening ended at McDonald’s Pub, where a roudy, international group watched Aaron Rai win the PGA Championship (in real time) with background music provided by a youthful Irish troubadour.
